European parliament votes for online and offline digital euro

MEPs' stance on CBDC is now closer to that of EU heads of government

The European Parliament has voted to approve the European Central Bank’s proposal for both online and offline versions of the digital euro.

In a vote on February 10, members of the European Parliament (MEPs) decided to reject an earlier proposal by the parliamentary rapporteur that would have restricted the digital euro to an offline version only.
