SBP offers overseas Pakistanis access to digital banking services

Prime minister says he hopes the Roshan Digital Account will help channel foreign exchange to Pakistan

The State Bank of Pakistan is offering overseas citizens the chance to open digital bank accounts without setting foot in Pakistan, which it hopes will help channel investment to the country.

The Roshan Digital Account requires only a “basic set of information and documents” to open, governor Reza Baqir said in remarks at a launch event on September 10. The SBP expects banks to be able to complete the necessary due diligence on the accounts within 48 hours.
