New fintech innovation hub goes live in South Africa

Hub will accommodate regulatory advice unit as well as sandbox and accelerator facilities

The South Africa Reserve Bank has established a new fintech innovation hub, in collaboration with several other government agencies.

The intergovernmental fintech working group (IFWG), as the agencies are collectively known, says support for fintech and financial innovation is now “more important than ever”.

“To help address the expected economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, IFWG believes innovation among fintech firms and other financial sector innovators… must be supported,” a statement
