Maldives governor says international experts ‘unaware’ of island realities


The so-called experts at international financial institutions who visit the Maldives and offer prescriptions for macroeconomic problems "are either unaware, or they just ignore, the realities in the country," according to central bank governor Azeema Adam.

Speaking at the Berlin Economic Forum earlier this month, Adam reeled off some of the advice offered to the country's authorities by outside observers.
