Geostrategic risks now a major factor – CNB reserves head

Geostrategic considerations are “playing a bigger role” when it comes to the management of hundreds of billions of dollars of foreign exchange reserves, according to Ondřej Strádal, director of the reserves management division at the Czech National Bank.

Strádal tells Central Banking that while geostrategic factors have always been an important focus for reserve managers, examination of these risks was significantly heightened following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February this year.
