Central bank aims to maintain payments “edge” with ISO 20022-compatible Sorbnet 3 system
The Polish central bank’s new real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system is primarily a technological upgrade rather than a response to regulatory challenges in the payments landscape, an expert in payments law tells Central Banking.
The National Bank of Poland (NBP) announced the launch of the system, known as Sorbnet3, on September 9. Marcin Olechowski, managing partner at the law firm Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak, says the NBP implemented Sorbnet3 to help the country’s payment system maintain
