The Central Bank of Kenya is to extend the daily operating hours of its real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system.

In statement on June 18, the bank said the Kenya Electronic Payment and Settlement System (Kepps) schedule would change from 08:30–16:30 to 07:00–19:00 on business days from July 1.

It said the decision followed consultation with Kepps’ users and aligned with the objectives of the country’s 2022-25 national payments strategy.
