Austria introduces new clearing service

Central bank welcomes lender-owned company’s oversight of new system

Austria’s authorities launched a new clearing service for dealing with transactions made within the Single European Payments Area and the eurozone on June 12.

The new system will be run by Payment Services Austria, a private company owned by a consortium of the main Austrian banks. It worked on the project with the National Bank of Austria, or OeNB, and the French payment company Worldline.
