NY Fed updates Treasuries purchasing programme

New York Fed changes maturity ranges and sector weights of bond purchases

The Federal Reserve of New York announced on May 13 that it would slightly change the composition of its Treasuries purchases. 

As part of the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing programme, the New York Fed has been purchasing $80 billion in Treasuries each month since mid-June 2020. The New York Fed maintains the Open Market Trading Desk, known as “the desk”, which handles its operations in Treasuries markets.

The desk will slightly increase its purchases of longer-term Treasuries. Bonds
