ECB holds rates again, despite below-target inflation

Lagarde says bank will not be forced into precipitate easing by January’s 1.7% figure

The European Central Bank has held rates at 1.75% following a meeting of its governing council on February 4-5.

ECB president Christine Lagarde said the council had reached the decision unanimously, despite annual inflation having been measured at 1.7% in January.
