Kyrgyzstan tightens policy for first time in more than a year

Central bank raises rates by 25bp to keep inflation in check amid tariff uncertainties

Kyrgyzstan’s central bank has raised its benchmark lending rate for the first time since May 2024, citing the need to maintain price stability amid global economic uncertainties.

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic said today (July 29) that it had decided to increase the rate by 25 basis points to 9.25%.
