Namibia governor to step down one year ahead of schedule

Johannes !Gawaxab, chief of central bank since 2020, will depart on December 31

Johannes !Gawaxab, governor of Namibia’s central bank, will leave his position at the end of 2025, one year before his term is due to expire.

The Bank of Namibia announced today (November 19) that !Gawaxab would leave on December 31, without giving specific reasons. The bank has not named a successor.
