The Iranian government has appointed Ali Salehabadi as governor of the Central Bank of Iran, the central bank said in a statement.

Salehabadi replaces Akbar Komijani, who only assumed the governor’s post in July, and becomes the third CBI governor this calendar year.

The government of the former president, Hassan Rouhani, fired governor Abdolnaser Hemmati on May 30, after Hemmati registered for the 2021 presidential election. Ebrahim Raisi went on to win the election.
