The governor of the Central Bank of Suriname (CBvS) has resigned, following a string of allegations against him regarding missing funds and misconduct.

A senior official from the central bank confirmed to Central Banking that governor Robert van Trikt had left the bank less than a year after being appointed to lead the institution.

“The governor has resigned and an investigation is in progress,” the official says. “That is all I can formally say as we have yet to gather more information.”
