A former governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi has officially entered the race to become the country’s next president.

“I’m here to fight,” Dalitso Kabambe told London-based magazine African Business today (August 4). “We are here to fight as a party. And we can win this election.”

Kabambe, who led the central bank between 2017 and 2020, announced on July 27 that his running mate for September’s election would be Malawian entrepreneur Matthews Mtumbuka.
