Warsh called for fewer FOMC meetings in July
Minutes show committee agreeing on above-target inflation but disagreeing over AI’s effect on prices
Kevin Warsh told fellow members of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) in July that holding fewer meetings would give the Federal Reserve’s staff “more time to consider strategic monetary policy issues”.
The minutes from the committee’s July 28 meeting, published today (August 20), show the Fed chair arguing that holding six scheduled meetings per year – down from the current eight – would allow for more data to accumulate between meetings. He asked the committee members for their views and
