South Sudanese president fires governor for fifth time
President again dismisses governor as country’s economic crisis continues
South Sudan’s president has fired the country’s central bank governor for the fifth time, replacing him with another candidate amid a continuing economic crisis.
Salva Kiir dismissed Dier Tong Ngor, who he had twice appointed to the role, appointing Moses Makur Deng, state television announced on January 3. The president has now fired five central bank governors since January 2017, as well as eight finance ministers since 2011.
