Mark Carney delivered a speech on February 19, in which he laid out his ideal of leadership, and urged fellow central bankers and other leaders to focus on “clarity of thought and communication”.

The Bank of England governor said it was crucial to be able to “reduce complex problems to their essentials and then communicate them clearly”.

He told the audience at Regent’s University in London: “Say it straight. Say it simply. Say it over.”
