Central Bank of Malta seeks closer ties with North Africa

The Central Bank of Malta: a bridge between two central banking worlds?

The Central Bank of Malta has struck an agreement to establish closer co-operation with the Bank of Algeria, the first move in a broader push to link up with central banks along the shores of the Mediterranean.

“We intend to strengthen our ties with all the central banks of North Africa and the Middle East,” board director Philomena Meli tells Central Banking. “Algeria is the first in this round of missions.”
