BoE exploring ways to improve gender balance

Deputy governor wants HR department to investigate movement from manager to senior manager

One of the Bank of England’s deputy governors, Sam Woods, says he would like the central bank’s human resources department to examine how women move from managerial to senior manager positions, describing it as a “critical” part of the promotion pipeline.

The remark was one of many on the gender pay gap reported in the minutes of the latest meeting of the BoE’s Court of Directors, which were published today (January 2). Senior officers discussed “ongoing efforts to improve the gender balance”
