Former governor resigned to contest next presidential elections, reports say

Sierra Leone’s president has nominated a government minister for the vacant role of governor of the country’s central bank, according to local media.

Sierra Leonean president Ernest Bai Koroma nominated Patrick Conteh, a former commercial banker, to serve as governor, subject to approval by parliament, local reports say. Conteh currently serves as the minister of state in the finance ministry, where he is subordinate to finance minister Momodu Kargbo.
