Egyptian governor to resign early with former deputy waiting in wings
Successor was deputy governor and headed country’s largest commercial bank
The governor of the Central Bank of Egypt has resigned with nearly 18 months of his four-year term left to run, the country's presidency revealed today (Oct 21).
The departing governor, Hisham Ramez, will be replaced on November 26 by former deputy governor Tarek Amer, according to a statement in Arabic on the official Facebook page of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Ramez was appointed in January 2013 by the government of el-Sisi's predecessor as Egyptian President, Mohammed Morsi
