BoE’s new RTGS system to be open 24/7 ‘if required’

The Bank of England’s new real-time gross settlement system will have the capability to operate continuously, according to one of the bank’s executive directors.

Speaking at an event today (November 22), Victoria Cleland provided an update on the renewal of the BoE’s RTGS and how the new system would help to make cross-border payments more efficient.

“The Bank of England’s renewed RTGS service will have the capability to operate up to 24/7, if required and supported by industry, in the future
