DLT could reduce risk in payments – BoE official

The adoption of distributed ledger technology (DLT) could allow banks to work in a lower trust environment, according to an official at the Bank of England.

Despite worries from some observers that DLT could introduce more risk into the financial system, especially with regard to money laundering, the BoE’s head of future technology believes permissioned DLT networks could actually reduce risk.
