DNB develops new instant payment network

Banks will be able to process payments within seconds by mid-2019, the central bank says

Dutch banks will be able to process instant payments over a new infrastructure by 2019, the Netherlands Bank has announced, as part of its payment strategy for 2018–21.

Published today (June 5), the strategy reveals the DNB is building a new payments system in conjunction with the country’s banks and payments processors, which will allow transactions to be processed within five seconds of a request being made.
