Danish central bank calls for better liquidity management in payments markets


The National Bank of Denmark has called on participants in its payments and settlement markets to ensure they reserve sufficient liquidity for their transactions after shortages emerged on numerous occasions in 2012.

In a report on Denmark's financial market infrastructure (FMI), released last week, the central bank said the country's payments (Kronos and Sumclearing) and securities settlement (VP) systems operated "without major incidents" in 2012.
