Bundesbank board member calls for ‘moderate’ consolidation of German banking sector
Dombret criticises German banks for low cost efficiency and outdated business models
A leading member of the Deutsche Bundesbank has called for consolidation of Germany's banking sector, together with a rethinking of its business models and a reorganisation of its practices.
There were two broadly held opinions on the profitability of German banks, Andreas Dombret of the Bundesbank's executive board told an audience in Munich on October 24.
One side, Dombret said, called for radical restructuring to restore profitability, and the other said further consolidation of the sector
