Eastern Caribbean Central Bank takes over Anguilla’s largest two banks


The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) on Monday took control of the two largest banks in Anguilla, a British overseas territory in the Caribbean, after the two banks failed to meet capital requirements and exceeded the central bank's limits on non-performing loans.

The ECCB will take full control of the Caribbean Commercial Bank and the National Bank of Anguilla for the next six months "in the first instance" as it seeks to stabilise and restructure their operations.
