Sri Lankan governor defends economy against stories of ‘economic doom and mismanagement’


The Central Bank of Sri Lanka is attempting to combat "an aggressive and well-funded misinformation campaign" against the country's economy with a publicity drive of its own.

Ajith Cabraal, the central bank governor, accused "many persons and organisations from all over the world" of seeking to "destabilise the economy as well as discourage investments".

"In particular," he said, "we have observed increasing efforts to mislead the local and foreign stakeholders by planting and sustaining stories
