Ireland releases agreement on split of banking oversight responsibilities

The Irish Finance Ministry late on Tuesday published a previously confidential memorandum of understanding on the roles and responsibilities of the department of finance and the central bank, with regard to banking oversight in Ireland.

The banking sector and State-supported credit institutions are covered by the agreement, which sticks to general terms and forms part of the bail-out programme entered into with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the EU.

According to the document, in
