Ukraine’s banking sector will switch to using the International Bank Account Number system, or IBAN, by November 1 this year, the country’s central bank has announced.

The National Bank of Ukraine first said the banking sector would migrate to the IBAN standard in December last year. The move will harmonise the Ukrainian payment landscape with Europe’s and contribute to the further planned upgrade of the NBU System of Electronic Payments, the central bank said.
