Villeroy de Galhau warns citizens there is no ‘magic tax’ that only others will pay
Reducing France’s budget deficit may require “targeted, exceptional” taxes, François Villeroy de Galhau believes.
Speaking on television channel France 2 on September 29, the governor of the Banque de France (BdF) emphasised that the country had to address its budget deficit and ballooning debt. He added that governments in neighbouring countries, despite having “roughly the same” social model as France, were spending around €250 billion ($293.3 billion) a year less.
