NGFS adds near-term climate scenario to analytical toolkit

New framework looks at economic impact of environmental changes in next five years

A powerful new force – Central banks and climate-related risks

The Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) has published a set of short-term scenarios analysing the impact of climate change on the global economy.

The alliance of central banks and supervisors said the scenarios, which it unveiled on May 7, assessed how climate policies would affect financial stability and economic resilience over the next five years.

It added that the scenarios had been developed in collaboration with leading academic institutions to be used as an input for climate
