Central banks struggling to adopt latest data standards – BIS survey

Most institutions use SDMX, but resource constraints are limiting the benefits

Resource constraints and other barriers are preventing central banks from adopting the latest data standards, which is hampering information sharing, a survey by the Bank for International Settlements finds.

The statistical data and metadata exchange (SDMX) was developed by the BIS and other international organisations to align data governance in different countries. SDMX is designed to allow efficient data sharing, as all users adopt the same technical standards and IT architecture.
