Sudan to withdraw low-value notes from circulation
Smaller denominations have lost purchasing power amid inflation and currency depreciation
The Central Bank of Sudan announced on July 4 that it will withdraw small currency denominations from circulation, giving citizens until July 30 to deposit their banknotes.
The measure affects S£1 ($0.0017), S£2, S£5, S£10, S£20 and S£50 notes. The Sudan Tribune reported on July 4 that these denominations have effectively lost their purchasing power amid soaring inflation and a sharp depreciation of the currency.
