Serbian central bank reprimands artist for ‘defacing’ banknotes

The National Bank of Serbia is to file a criminal complaint against an artist and academic for printing anti-government symbols on banknotes.

The bank announced its intention in a statement published on May 20. The day before, an article in Serbian outlet Danas detailed how Andrej Josifovski, an assistant professor at the University of Belgrade’s faculty of architecture, had published images of banknotes stamped with an image to his social media followers.
