Bolivian authorities burn cash following plane crash

Central bank revokes legal tender of notes transported via military cargo plane that crashed in El Alto

A Bolivian military cargo plane carrying new bills for the country’s central bank crashed in the city of El Alto on February 27. 

The accident resulted in the deaths of 22 people, according to the latest figures from the Bolivian health ministry. Another 29 were injured, mostly passengers travelling on public transport where the crash occurred, according to reporting from the Associated Press.  

The crash in Bolivia’s second-largest city released around 17 million bank notes totalling 423 million
