
Bangladesh to introduce new banknotes
Series to appear ahead of Eid al-Adha festival

Bangladesh Bank is to introduce a new series of banknotes ahead of the Eid al-Adha festival, newspaper Prothom Alo reported on May 26.
The initial series will include 20, 50 and 100 taka denominations and will be available from June 2. Further denominations will be printed and released in phases. Eid al-Adha is due to take place in Bangladesh on June 6–7.
The new designs would reflect the country’s economic progress and not carry the image of any individual, the bank said.
