CBN alerts Nigeria’s financial sector to new sanctions
Lenders and other institutions ordered to report to central bank within 48 hours
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a circular notifying banks and other financial services companies to implement recent sanctions designations related to terrorism and terrorism financing.
The circular was issued on June 24 and signed by Olubunmi Ayodele-Oni, director of the CBN’s compliance department. The central bank said the Nigerian government’s sanctions committee and the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (Ofac) had made the designations, and that Nigeria’s sanctions
