
China to focus more on consumption, says PBoC governor
Pan Gongsheng wants domestic demand to be “key driver of growth”

China will continue to place greater emphasis on consumption as a “key driver” of economic growth, the governor of its central bank has said.
Speaking at a conference in Saudi Arabia on February 16, Pan Gongsheng said that last September’s stimulus package had been “instrumental” in supporting growth. However, the governor of the People’s Bank of China acknowledged that there were challenges to growth, both externally and internally.
