Trial opens in Vietnam over alleged multi-billion dollar fraud

Accused include real estate tycoon and 15 former central bank officials

A trial began in Vietnam on March 5 in which 15 former central bank officials are accused of involvement in a $12 billion fraud.

The former State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) officials are among nearly 90 defendants. These include property tycoon Truong My Lan and her husband Hong Kong businessman Eric Chu Nap-kee, former executives at Saigon Joint Stock Commercial Bank (SCB), and government officials.
