People: New deputies at RBI and Bank of Latvia; Russia appoints director

India: The Indian government has confirmed R Gandhi as deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), filling an empty seat on the board left by Anand Sinha, who departed in January this year.

Gandhi will take on responsibility for the departments of banking operations and development, non-banking supervision, urban banks, expenditure and budgetary control, IT, legal, premises and risk monitoring.
