Central Bank of Nigeria hits back at ‘unfounded and mischievous’ reports

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has moved to debunk "spurious" reports by local news media that it destroyed documents that had been requested by the Public Accounts Committee of the Nigerian parliament.

Officials from the CBN testified before the committee on May 7 following the publication of a report by the auditor-general on the central bank's finances. The dispute arose when the committee requested documents from the central bank, which according to local news website Vanguard were
