Weidmann calls for ‘truly independent’ fiscal council
Deutsche Bundesbank president Jens Weidmann argued for the creation of a "truly independent" fiscal council in the eurozone on December 10, during remarks at the Bank of Portugal.
This council would be responsible for applying fiscal rules, helping to "unburden the [European] Commission of its difficult political conflict of interest", Weidmann said.
