RBI targeting 'greater internationalisation' of rupee

A Reserve Bank of India (RBI) executive director, G Padmanabhan, today said the Indian Rupee is a "natural candidate" for "greater internationalisation".

Padmanabhan observed that India is one of the fastest growing countries in the world, has one of the largest supplies of foreign exchange reserves in the region, and its currency - the rupee - operates without a peg.
