UK policy-maker weighs impact of QE on pension funds

Charlie Bean, the deputy governor responsible for monetary policy at the Bank of England, delivered a speech today (May 23) considering the extent to which quantitative easing (QE) affects pension funds.

Speaking at the National Association of Pension Funds' Local Authority Conference in Gloucestershire, Bean emphasised that for certain funds, QE will have no effect: "The bottom line is that QE is broadly neutral for a fund that starts in balance, with the overall movement in assets broadly
