Mauritius launches 'overdue' cheque truncation system

Rundheersing Bheenick, the governor of the Bank of Mauritius, on Tuesday said the launch of the central bank's new cheque truncation system was long overdue.

At the launch ceremony of the Cheque Truncation System at the Bank of Mauritius Tower, Bheenick said: "A change in the way we process cheques was long overdue. And we would have rolled out the cheque truncation system long before, had we not unfortunately got ourselves embroiled in internal turf battles that almost paralysed decision-making
