Sri Lanka doesn’t fear loss of EU privileges: CB chief
Sri Lanka could withstand the loss of European Union (EU) trade privileges, said Ajith Nivard Cabraal, the governor of its central bank, in a speech in Colombo in late October.
Sri Lanka holds the privileges under the generalised system of preferences (GSP+) scheme.
Cabraal said the critical issues were:
-Whether industries would collapse if the GSP+ privileges were withdrawn; -If the risk of any such collapse had changed as a result of the financial crisis; and -How the risk could be dealtOnly users who have a paid subscription or are part of a corporate subscription are able to print or copy content.
