ECB’s Tumpel-Gugerell calls for structural reforms
Structural policy measures are central to sustainable productivity growth, said Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell, a member of the European Central Bank's executive board.
Tumpel-Gugerell said market reforms were needed to increase competition and, in doing so, the demand for labour. She also said investment in education and research were crucial. She research and innovation were especially important in a crisis. She also said only a well-educated labour force could increase productivity.
