Brazil's Meirelles: corporate governance challenge
Setting high standards of corporate governance is trickier in Brazil than in more mature economies, said Henrique Meirelles, the governor of the Central Bank of Brazil.
Meirelles noted that ownership and control in Brazil are not segregated in the same way as they are in advanced economies, in spite of the significant increase in initial public offerings over recent years, making it more difficult raise governance standards.
